Summer Holidays

Thredbo is a great summer resort. Our lodge provides the perfect summer base (at low season rates) to partake in pastimes including alpine walks, tennis, golf, mountain biking, horse riding, fishing, the AIS indoor sports complex (with 50m heated pool) and of course the gourmet restaurants. Members are encouraged to make good use of the Thredbo lodge in the 'non skiing season'. For details of off season local events and resort activity packages, members are encouraged to visit the Thredbo website: Thredbo Alpine Resort or contact the Thredbo Lodge Manager on tel: (02) 6457 6305, fax: (02) 6457 6357 or email: ranski@bigpond.net.au

Mount Buller also offers a wonderful summer vacation experience with bushwalking, horse riding, tennis and access to the Latrobe University campus facilities. For details of off season local events visit the Mt Buller web site: mtbuller.com.au

Perisher is mainly bush walking as limited [at times no commercial] valley facilities are open.  Members should visit the Perisher website: Perisher Blue Ski Resort [Summer] for what’s on and open during the summer.

Bookings for All Lodges in Summer

All applications for lodge bookings for Buller and Perisher are made through the Booking Officer.

Applications for accommodation for Thredbo are to be made in the first instance through the Booking Officer, however, short notice bookings i.e. the week before can be made and accepted by the Thredbo Lodge Manager contact as above.

Special Requirements for use of Buller and Perisher Lodges in Summer

Unlike the Thredbo Lodge which has a full-time manager, the Perisher and Mt Buller Lodges are closed down in the off season. For these lodges to be opened up for use during summer, one of the members present must be an Authorised Person for the particular lodge and be responsible for:

  • Ensure that persons using club equipment do so safely
  • Ensure lodge Heating and Hot water services operate correctly
  • Regularly remove garbage and waste from kitchen to the Garbage Disposal Hut on the roadside in front of AKLA Lodge (MT Buller) or NPWS bins (Perisher) as appropriate
  • Thoroughly clean lodge on departure
  • Take appropriate action in an emergency to ensure safety of our members and guests, and restore services within the lodge

Members may obtain Authorisation by attending a Work Party and applying to the Lodge Maintenance Manager to be entered on the Authorised Person List for the particular lodge after receiving instructions on the requirements for opening up and closing down the lodge, what to do in the event of fire, waste disposal arrangement and environmental considerations. Additionally, the Mt Buller Lodge may only be opened up if there are at least 10 persons present (It is not cost effective to operate the lodge with less than 10 persons.)
