Unauthorised removal of vegetation.

We want to be be responsible users of the Snowfields and National Parks, so we must ensure we always abide by proper procedures before trimming or lopping trees on any of our leased lodge sites. This letter from the Mt Buller management, although referring to Buller, is also applicable in general to the NSW lodges. It's important that all users of our lodges are aware of the procedures.

Review of Summer Opening of  Thredbo Lodge

The ACT Sub Committee has reviewed the continued viability of Thredbo lodge as a 12 months a year operation. While the Directors believed that maintaining a 365 day lodge for was a worthy objective, it had to be financially viable and at least breaking even.

The review investigated the detailed operating costs and recommended Thredbo only open full time with a Manager during December, January and February each year. Additionally, the lodge would be open and manned for one day each side of all other long weekend/ special events i.e. Snowy Ride, Jazz Festival, Blues Festival CMC and Easter.

The Directors also decided that at other times a minimum fee of $145 a day and a minimum booking of 2 days apply to groups of less than 8 people. After that the normal bed rate will apply.

Also at other times,  The Managers flat will be made available to members at other times. The flat sleeps 4 and is self catering.  The flat will be secured from the rest of the lodge, and accessed by the rear door. No access to the main part of the lodge will be available to occupiers of the flat.  An interim fee of $50 a day will apply in 2009 to be reviewed at the November Directors Budget meeting.  Blackout periods will exist for the flat and will be published on the website.  These blackout periods will generally coincide with work parties and known times of major work.
