The Thredbo Lodge Managers weekend is on Sat, 25th Oct 2008 and accommodation is provided for Friday and Sat night.　 Morning and afternoon tea will be provided and a Bar B on Sat arvo.　Names to be e-mailed to Jean Eggleston, jean.eggleston@defence.gov.au and dolittle2@bigpond.com　and 　Ed Watson edwardato@yahoo.com.au before 22nd October.

The Perisher Historical Society was launched at a dinner at Snow Gums Restaurant in the Perisher Hotel on Saturday of the June Long Weekend. There were 103 guests attending, many of whom were from the early days of the development of the Perisher Range. The early days of Perisher were recalled by John Davis who gave a wonderful and interesting talk along with a narrative by Keith Line. Memorabilia and photos were displayed along with guest, Bill Day’s Olympic blazer, skis and racing bibs from the 1952 1956 and 1960 Olympic Games. In all a very happy and successful evening. The Society is now looking for members and attached is a membership form and also more information on how we began. We will be publishing regular newsletters with progress & happenings. We are keen to receive your stories from the early days right up to the present to help make this publication interesting and also amusing, so please consider sharing them with us. Our Photo Album has been updated and expanded and now includes photos from the AGM in May 08.

Registration is now open for people wishing to attend the National WRANS-RAN Women Reunion in Adelaide next year. The reunion will be held from Thursday 23rd to Sunday 26th April 2009 with social functions, outings and Anzac Day events.

New for 2008, Perisher Blue is offering two new card products: the 'Perisher Card', providing greater value and flexibility for loyal guests; and 'Gift Cards', literally the coolest gift around.

The Perisher Card
The Perisher Card offers loyal guests the chance to save on day passes. Designed specifically for those who fall short of spending enough time in the resort to purchase a Season Pass, the Perisher Card can be purchased for $45 from all Perisher Blue ticket outlets. It then entitles frequent skiers and boarders to mountain passes for just $85 per day from Friday to Sunday and $79 from Monday to Thursday. Perisher Card holders also have the benefits two for one First Tracks access, rooms at The Station Resort for $115 (rooms sleep six people, subject to avail.), a single return Skitube trip and 2.5 hour group lessons for $30 (at Perisher Valley, available for intermediate and above skiers and snowboarders). This seems to be very similar to the successful Thredbo and Buller Cards which have been operating for some years.

Gift Cards, the coolest gift around
Purchase credit for friends or family members that can be used at any Perisher Blue point-of-sale including lift ticket offices, retail outlets (including the Slopestyle and Addiction Snowboards stores) as well as Perisher Blue owned food and beverage outlets (including Snow Gums restaurant). Gift cards can be purchased in any denomination above $20 at any of Perisher Blue's major ticket offices, the Perisher Valley Hotel and The Station Resort receptions or over the phone via Perisher Blue Snow Holidays on 1300 655 811. Credit is valid for the current season and the following season. Both cards can be purchased at any time throughout the season.

HANS OVERSNOW has won the licence for oversnow/transport for Perisher. The licence is for 5 years with a plus 5 option. Requirements for better Smiggins access, and smartening up of uniforms etc were part of the deal. They also won the Snow grooming contract for roads etc, previously held by P/Blue. 5 year contract. This includes the cross country trail grooming.

FREE SHUTTLE: for one night a week, probably Tuesday there will be a free shuttle circulating the lodges and the centre. Designed to encourage village circulation. Details will be forwarded.
